Colwood Church is a community on the journey to be more like Jesus for the sake of our city.

We believe that God loves everyone and desires to seek and save every person on earth. As a result of this love, we have a heart for worship, living in community together, and seeing God’s kingdom come in the Westshore as it is in Heaven.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe in one eternal God, who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our lives.

We believe Jesus is fully God and fully man, and is the only one who can reconcile us to God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again in triumph over sin and death.

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and experience new life in Jesus we must turn from our sin, place our trust in Jesus, and submit to His will for our lives.

We believe that in order to live in line with the teachings and lifestyle of Jesus, we need to be baptized in water and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues, to serve others, share the good news of Jesus, and partner with God’s plan for redemption of the world. We believe that every person has gifts and a part to play in the church and community that we live in.

We believe in the power and importance of the Church and practicing our faith together with others. God has created us to live in community with others and as a result we commit to regularly meet together for to build relationships, prayer, worship, and the ‘breaking of bread’.

We believe that our eternal destination of either heaven or hell is determined by our response to Jesus Christ.

We believe Jesus will come back again, as He promised, in power and glory to bring to completion His plan to redeem, restore, and bring about the new heaven and earth.

Colwood Church is affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC). If you have any further questions, or for a more in-depth breakdown of what we believe, you can click here.

HISTORY

Colwood Church began as a vision of a former Pastor of Glad Tidings, Pastor Paul Hawkes. The church was founded in 1974 under the leadership of Pastor Don McMillan and after some prayerful consideration, property was purchased in the spring of 1975. Under the direction of Mr. Jim Hartshorne, an ambitious building program was started and in fairly short order Colwood Church saw the completion of the building which now houses our congregation. Over the years God has done many amazing works in and through our church, and together we are excited for the future of Colwood Church.
